Can get as far as serial number of laptop and system will not accept. Please advise is there a certain format....

Easycapture video grabber connected to advent 8117 laptop. No Sound?

I recently purchased easycapture usb 2.o video grabber and the ulead videostudio came with it. I am able to capture video but canot hear or record sound. I tried running the audio leads with an adaptor through the front mic in socket and I can then hear the sound along with the video but this still does not capture the sound. I have windows vista home. CAn anyone enlighten me as to what the problem could be. Help!...
